Danbury, CT (January 11, 2024) – The Danbury Student and Business Connection (DSABC), a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering mentorship programs between students of Danbury Public Schools and local business employees, is celebrating National Mentoring Month this January. DSABC’s program currently provides over 90 students with mentors who meet with them regularly, once a week during a school period of less than one hour. These mentoring sessions are designed to build the character and confidence of students, significantly impacting their personal and academic success.
To further its mission, DSABC has engaged partners in the greater Danbury area to promote its services in hopes of recruiting more volunteer mentors and raising awareness of its programs and impact. Throughout the month, DSABC will be sharing impact stories on its social media channels and holding a mentor appreciation event to foster community and connection among new and returning mentors.
Additionally, the Big Y at 83 Stony Hill Road in Bethel has named DSABC as its monthly Community Bag Program beneficiary. For the month of January, DSABC will receive a $1 donation for every $2.50 bag purchased. On January 31, Holiday Diner on White Street in Danbury will be participating in the Dining with DSABC initiative. In this restaurant partnership, patrons who mention DSABC to their servers will have 10% of their bills donated to the organization.
Area residents can also support DSABC by donating directly on their website at dsabcmentors.org/donate. With the growing need among students in the Danbury Public School system, DSABC is actively recruiting more volunteer mentors. One mentor recently shared, “It is a rewarding and beneficial experience for both people, and they would be surprised at the difference that can be made in only 30 minutes a week.”
